Kirkby Lonsdale

A little history about our town, Kirkby Lonsdale

Kirkby Lonsdale is very ancient settlement – Romans Saxons, Normans and Danes all carved an influence.  Under the orders of King William the Conqueror our town was included in the Domesday Book of 1086.

More recently it continues to be one of The Sunday Times Newspaper 'Best Places to Live' and has been a location for TV Dramas and Hollywood Blockbusters (and many a dog walker, carrot cake lover and purveyor of craft ale)

By road, our famous market town of Kirkby Lonsdale is located approximately...

13 miles or 20km from from Kendal (20 minutes)
21 miles or 34km from Windermere (30 minutes)
21 miles or 34km from Lancaster (35minutes)

The cobbled streets, charming architecture and picturesque landscapes make it the destination of choice when visiting the Lake District, Kendal, Carnforth, Lancaster or North Yorkshire.

Kirkby Lonsdale is easily reached for a day out from London, Edinburgh or Manchester - and you'll be spoilt for cosy cottages, boutique hotels and countryside pubs with open fires.
